The 2026 American Music Awards was full of surprises!
According to Yahoo, BTS absolutely dominated the night by clinching the highly coveted Artist of the Year award. Their high-profile appearance marked a massive milestone, serving as their first major awards show performance and group appearance together in four years.
Yahoo reports that sespite heading into the ceremony leading the pack with an impressive eight nominations, Taylor Swift surprisingly went completely empty-handed, failing to secure a single win throughout the entire broadcast.
They note that the stage was packed with throwbacks as New Kids on the Block transformed the venue into a Las Vegas-style party with their classic choreography to "You Got It (The Right Stuff)." Keith Urban kept the retro vibes flowing by debuting a smooth, yacht-rock rendition of "Summer Breeze" from his upcoming album.
Yahoo also reports that rock pioneer Billy Idol took home the Lifetime Achievement Award and delivered an empowering speech before rocking the house with "Dancing With Myself." Additionally, Karol G was recognized globally, taking home the International Artist Award of Excellence.
They also note that KATSEYE snagged the New Artist of the Year award and turned heads with a synchronized performance of their latest track, "PINKY UP."
