Austrian prosecutors have filed terrorism charges against a 21-year-old man who they say planned to target one of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna back in August 2024.
According to CBS News, officials allege he declared allegiance to the Islamic State group online, sharing propaganda and extremist videos through messaging apps.
They note that authorities also say he researched bomb-making using instructions from the internet and even produced a small amount of explosive material, raising serious security concerns.
CBS News also reports that prosecutors claim he made multiple attempts to buy weapons illegally abroad and bring them into Austria before being taken into custody.
They note that the suspect, unnamed in official filings, is now set to face trial in a town near Vienna.
CBS News notes that Austrian authorities canceled three scheduled Swift shows in Vienna in August 2024 after they say they disrupted the alleged plan.
