Savannah Guthrie, the long-time Today show host, is expected to withdraw from hosting NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Italy because of a serious family emergency.
According to Page Six, her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing after not showing up for church and failing to be found at her Tucson, Arizona home.
They note that authorities are now treating Nancy’s disappearance as a crime scene and believe she didn’t leave voluntarily, investigators have even described the circumstances as consistent with abduction.
Page Six reports that Nancy needs daily medication and has limited mobility, so her disappearance is being taken very seriously by law enforcement.
They note Savannah skipped an episode of Today and released a family statement thanking people for support and asking for help from the public and police.
