New England Patriots star wide receiver Stefon Diggs is facing serious legal trouble.
According to E!, he’s been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from an incident earlier this month in Dedham, Massachusetts.
They note that the charges relate to an alleged December 2 incident where a woman who worked for him reported she was struck and then choked during a dispute, according to court filings.
E! reports that Diggs’ attorney strongly denies the allegations, calling them “unsubstantiated, uncorroborated” and saying the claims resulted from a financial dispute with an employee, not actual wrongdoing.
They also report that the Patriots organization has publicly backed Diggs, confirming they’re aware of the situation and will cooperate with authorities and the NFL.
An arraignment is scheduled for January 23, 2026.
