King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.
According to NBC News, the His Majesty was diagnosed after undergoing a procedure for what doctors thought was a benign, enlarged prostate.
They note Buckingham Palace released a statement in response to the diagnosis which reads, "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted... Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer... His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties."
NBC reports the statement also says His Majesty wanted to make the diagnosis public "in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
The type of cancer has not been disclosed.
NBC also reports that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed, "Thankfully this has been caught early, and now everyone will be wishing him that he gets the treatment that he needs and makes a full recovery."
Amid the news, The Independent notes Prince Harry will fly to the UK to be by his father's side!
