We sat down with Nick Rapuano and Jeff Snyder from the upcoming production of Glengarry Glen Ross that will open on Thursday, February 22nd at the Bushnell in Hartford!
Nick Rapuano is the owner of the Diamond Theatre Company and the sponsor/producer of Glengarry Glen Ross. He teamed up with Jeff Snyder who is an actor in and producer of the show to bring this production to life beginning next week. Nick and Jeff have collaborated on two other productions together, “God of Carnage” in 2022, and “Terms of Endearment” in 2023. Both shows were held at Wallingford Senior Center. Jeff hails from Glastonbury and is a financial advisor by day. Nick grew up in both the New Haven area and Florida, his family having moved periodically due to his father’s former profession as an MLB umpire. Nick is a video editor by trade.
“Glengarry Glen Ross” was written by David Mamet in 1982-1983, and it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play in 1984. It has had three successful runs on Broadway, initially in 1984, then in 2005 and again in 2012. The 1992 feature film of the play starred Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey, and Alan Arkin. Alec Baldwin makes a memorable cameo.
The play highlights portions of two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts—from lies and flattery to bribery, threats, intimidation and burglary—to sell real estate to unwitting prospective buyers. It is based on Mamet's experience having previously worked in a similar office.
The show will run on Thursday, February 22nd at 7:30pm, Friday, February 23rd at 7:30pm, and Saturday, February 24th at 2pm as well as 7:30pm.
