In celebration of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum’s 24th anniversary, we are celebrating our first Annual Three Sisters Community Fundraiser on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 6 pm-9 pm. The event will include an opportunity to support and learn about our public programs and fundraising efforts, experience culture through song and dance presentations along with a silent auction, and a chance to win great raffle prizes!
The mission of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center is to strengthen Pequot Culture to honor and serve our Tribal family and friends. The Three Sisters Community Fundraiser will continue to honor our mission and our traditional teachings of the basket and the three sisters, corn, beans, and squash. They teach us that our true strength is in togetherness and that we need one another.
Please know, with your attendance as a Meesumôk Neetôp (giving friend) we will fund new on-site, virtual & outreach programs and exhibitions with a focus on developing curriculum content for the Connecticut school system and beyond. Considering the Connecticut Board of Education mandate to include Native American history, this will bring funding and sponsoring opportunities directly to our schools.
Over the past 23 years, our museum has been able to bring hidden histories to light through our educational and outreach programs by connecting with hundreds of thousands of students and visitors from our own local communities, as well as from around the world.
The Three Sister Community Fundraiser provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to support youth of all ages to experience and learn more of Native American culture as it pertains to the Pequots and Eastern Woodland culture.
