MOVE! With the Urban League of Greater Hartford

HARTFORD, CONN., July 25, 2022 – This Saturday, July 30, the Urban League of Greater Hartford will collaborate with the Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) on a unique new event, MOVE! With the Urban League of Greater Hartford. The event will take place in the southern portion of historic Keney Park, adjacent to the Woodland Street Entrance off of Greenfield Street. Free COVID vaccinations and boosters will be available for adults and children, no appointments needed, as part of the National Urban League’s “All In” vaccination campaign. 

 

At 9:00 a.m., the 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk begins. At 10:00 a.m., an Awards Ceremony will be held. At 10:15 a.m., a free HMF FitKids Run starts. A Move! Festival of activities will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., featuring: 

  • Inspired Girls Club – Double Dutch 
  • Hope Fitness – Cool Down 
  • Movin 2 Educate – Zumba 
  • Ka La Rue – Tai Chi 
  • Hartford Wildcats – Football Skills 
  • Hartford’s Proud – Drum, Dance, Drill 
  • Ebony Horsewomen – Horse Walk 
  • UConn Health – Jump Program 
  • Keney Park Sustainability Project – Produce Distribution 
  • Links of Farmington Valley – Voter Registration 
  • And more…. 

 

MOVE! is supported by Pratt & Whitney and proceeds will go toward helping the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s work to improve racial equity and economic empowerment through education, employment, housing, health, and social justice programs. 

 

The family-friendly event offers participants ages 12 and under free entry to the 5K or the shorter HMF FitKids races of quarter-mile, half-mile or one-mile distances. The entry fee is $20 for adults 22+ and $10 for 12-21-year-olds and includes a colorful tee shirt (available to purchase for children 12 and under).
