After keeping fans on their toes with cryptic messages and websites, Imagine Dragons officially announced their sixth studio album LOOM on Monday (April 22). Dan Reynolds shared the news in an emotional message to fans on social media.
"Working on this record was a rollercoaster - just as it always is. some days the songs came from a place [of] sadness and heartache and others joy and jubilance. loneliness. searching. wanting. anger. love. the beauty of songwriting is that it has always simply been my journal. it has documented decades of my journey through this strange life. and I’ve been lucky enough to create it with my best friends in a band and have you share it with us," he began the lengthy message. "Thank you for letting me feel less alone here on this planet. for singing with me across the globe. reminding me that we all truly are one and in this together. falling and failing. and then getting back up and trying again. and singing about it along the way."
"You have given me purpose and a place to sing and dance. you have continually stood by our side now for over a decade. in return we will always be here singing along with you. I always and only hope that it helps you feel less alone. It brings you joy. makes you cry. makes you angry. makes you dance. makes you FEEL something," he continued. "May your days be a bit brighter. may the things that loom in the future and distance be a beautiful tapestry of joy and pain that you can hang on your wall to reflect on as life passes us by. may you see this art for what it is - a sunset or a sunrise? the end of something or just the beginning? it all looks the same to me. I love you and will see you on the road soon."
LOOM is slated for a June 28 release. Imagine Dragons shared the album's lead single "Eyes Closed" earlier this month. In addition to the album, the band also announced "their biggest North American headline tour to date." See Reynold's message and a full list of tour dates below.
