It may sound like a Hollywood script, but this is no movie. Dutch police say a family had been trapped in their own home for nearly a decade, fearing the end of the world. A 25-year-old sibling managed to escape, finding his way to a local cafe. "He had long hair, a dirty beard, wore old clothes and looked confused. He said he'd never been to school and hadn't been to the barber for nine years," the bar's owner, Chris Westerbeek, told the BBC.
