There have always been lists of party towns across America - so Safewise.com flipped the script and figured out the safest college towns in America.
New England takes home the area for safest colleges, netting 4 of the Top 10 safest college towns. The top 50 certainly leans Northeast heavy, but there are Top 50 towns all across the country from Maine, to California, to Florida.
Some of the parameters set by Safewise were as follows:
To deem a college town “safe,” we zeroed in on violent crimes per 1,000 people for each city. Violent crimes include murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. We also looked at property crimes (burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson), but those numbers didn’t impact our final determination
