Heidi Hernandez, a 17-year old primary sclerosing cholangitis patient, had a dream come true on Saturday when the rock star paid her a visit at her part-time job at Lou Malnati’s restaurant on the Southwest Side of Chicago.Primary sclerosing cholangitis is a condition that affects the bile ducts. It causes inflammation and can lead to liver failure by impeding the flow of bile to the intestines.
Hernandez had wished to see Coldplay in concert, and when her manager at Lou Malnati’s learned of this, he reached out to the team of hip-hop artist and Chicago-based philanthropist Chance the Rapper with the hopes that he’d be able to acquire tickets to the band’s sold out show at Soldier Field Thursday night.Hernandez was accommodated, and given two club-level seats; one for her and one for her boyfriend. After hearing of Hernandez’s story, Martin opted to take a trip to Lou Malnati’s on Saturday. He brought with him a hat that matched his own, and gifted it to his fan.
“Dreams come true you just have to reach for the skies and nothing will stop you!!!” Hernandez tweeted later that day.
