Can Pickleball Bring New Life to Ailing Shopping Malls?

Malls are hoping to capitalize on the nation's estimated nine-million pickleball players. It's estimated that the number of malls in the U.S. fell from 2,500 in the 1980s to about 700 today. Jay Waldner, the owner of Pickleball America, thinks pickleball at malls could attract upwards of half-a-million players in a year. The company is in the process of building a 28-court complex inside part of a Connecticut mall.
