United States lawmakers are concerned over the popular app, TikTok, as it could potentially be a treat to national security.
The app could possibly have connection to the Chinese Government. It is the information the app collects that is concerning to some people on Capital Hill.
The TikTok app is believed to have access to see what other sites a user visits, their search history and keystrokes.
Cybersecurity experts for the FBI and Department of Justice warn that the information being collected by the app could be weaponized in the future.
Senator Josh Hawley believes that,
"What they want to do is take all of this information from Americans. especially American teenagers, and then ship it off to Beijing."
TikTok representaties will not agree to attend a congressional hearing.
