The Weeknd is speaking out after his HBO show “The Idol”, which he stars in alongside Lily Rose Depp, has gotten TONS of negative reviews!
Page Six reports that the show has been slammed for The Weeknd's "comically bad" performance in addition to the excess sex and nudity!
According to Page Six, he said that he actually expected all of this. He said "We're playing with genres with this show, we're doing exactly what we wanted to do… And none of this is a surprise. I'm excited for everyone to watch the rest of the show." He also said that his goal for the show was to show another side of fame.
Page Six also writes that The Weeknd said, "It’s almost educational, that this is what comes with being incredibly famous. You’re surrounded by people who you’re not sure what their true intentions are, even if it seems like they’re good. You just never know... But of course, I’ve been very fortunate to have people around me that I’ve known almost my entire life, which is important, and is a gift."
