Lena Dunhamā€™s Side-By-Side Comparison Pics Go Viral for Right Reason

Insert the praise hands emoji here šŸ™ŒšŸ» Lena Dunhamā€™s Instagram is going viral for all the right reasons. The Girls actress posted side-by-side photos revealing that sheā€™s gone from "sick in the head and tissues" to "happy, joyous, and freeā€ and the number on the scale doesnā€™t matter.

ā€œOn the left: 138 pounds, complimented all day and propositioned by men and on the cover of a tabloid about diets that work. Also, sick in the tissue and in the head and subsisting only on small amounts of sugar, tons of caffeine and a purse pharmacy. On the right: 162 pounds, happy joyous & free, complimented only by people that matter for reasons that matter, subsisting on a steady flow of fun/healthy snacks and apps and entrees, strong from lifting dogs and spirits,ā€ Dunham captioned the post, revealing that sheā€™s on the mend since previously revealing her years-long battle with chronic pain stemming from endometriosis.

ā€œEven this OG body positivity warrior sometimes looks at the left picture longingly, until I remember the impossible pain that brought me there and onto my proverbial knees,ā€ Dunham concluded. ā€œAs I type I can feel my back fat rolling up under my shoulder blades. I lean in.ā€

The HBO star previously slammed the tabloid that included her in their ā€œ20 Slimdown Diet Tipsā€ feature, listing instead 20 other factors leading to her weight loss, which ultimately lead to her undergoing a total hysterectomy in February.

In an op-ed for Vogue, Dunham previously shared why she underwent the total hysterectomy, revealing that she couldnā€™t handle the pain anymore and just wanted to be happy again.

ā€œI may have felt choiceless before, but I know I have choices now,ā€ she concluded in Vogue, revealing she still plans on having children via surrogacy or adoption. ā€œSoon Iā€™ll start exploring whether my ovaries, which remain someplace inside me in that vast cavern of organs and scar tissue, have eggs. Adoption is a thrilling truth Iā€™ll pursue with all my might.ā€
