Shawn Mendes is pledging $1 million via his Shawn Mendes Foundation to help create a music therapy program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. The program will be called the "Wonder of Music" program.
According to Scary Mommy, the program will include a variety of programs relating to music therapy including songwriting and music education. They also report that patients will have the ability to create original songs set to their heartbeat!
Scary Mommy also reports that in a press release announcing the program, Mendes said, "SickKids is a very special place to me and my hometown of Toronto, and I'm so honored to support such an important program...Music has made such a profound impact in my life and is no doubt a form of therapy to me. I can only hope the Wonder of Music Program will help SickKids patients, families, and staff benefit from its power as well."
