The Connecticut Food Association has announced a new set of guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. These items will be put into place immediately at grocery stores across the state.
What you need to know:
- Grocery stores will be capped at 50% capacity based on fire code. This can mean that you will have to wait in a line outside to go in if they have reached capacity at the moment
- One person per household during grocery store trips
- Clearly marked 6 foot spacing in lines will be placed in lines and high-traffic areas
- Increased space between customers and employees at checkout, including opening every other checkout lane
- The installation of Plexiglas shields to separate employees from customers at checkout lines
- Store associates will wipe-down carts and baskets
- Food sampling with seize along with self-service of food at a buffet or salad bar
- Encouraging touchless credit card transactions
