Richard Branson is launching an adults-only cruise line and, TBH, it sounds amazing. Bookings are open for Virgin Voyages with it's first batch of departures set for April 1 - October 25 2020. The ship, named The Scarlet Lady, will arrive at PortMiami in 2020 for her inaugural sailing season. She will sail to exciting destinations, such as Key West, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
“I’ve never been on a cruise, I’ve wanted to go on a cruise,” Branson told People. “That’s why we started a cruise line, just to try to create a cruise ship that was fun, and that was for adults.”
“Disney already does kids very well, and 99 percent of the market has kids [on board.],” he continued. “It’s nice because we can cater completely to the adults. We can do a few outrageous things, which might be a bit more difficult to do if there were kids on board.”
So, what kind of adult-centric activities can cruise-goers expect on The Scarlet Lady? The ship will have over 20 bars and restaurants, as well as a signature dining experience called 'Razzle Dazzle' that will have a drag brunch on every trip. Each dining establishment, as well as tips for servers, is included with the price of sailing so guests won't have to worry about any unexpected or unplanned expenses while on board.
The Scarlet Lady will have no buffets on board, either. In fact, they take this whole no buffet thing so seriously, they included in the ship's tag line: "no kids, no buffets and no limits." Virgin told Delish that buffets "didn't make sense for us," instead the ship will have a mix of "Eataly inspired food halls based on food-centric cities like New York and Mexico City."
The Scarlet Lady also has an underwater cave-inspired luxury spa, multiple pools, a fancy ballroom and a state-of-the-art gym overlooking the ocean. You can see a ton of photos of the cruise's amenities on Delish.
