A small group of protesters confronted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, while they tried to eat dinner at a restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. According to TMZ, which obtained a video of the incident, a group of four men was angry with McConnell's stance on social security and healthcare.
The woman who recorded the video said the main aggressor slammed his fists onto McConnell's table and tossed a bag with left-over food out of the restaurant before telling the couple to "get out of here. Why don’t you leave our entire country?”
While the protesters continued to harass McConnel and his wife, other diners grew tired of their antics and told the man to leave. One woman can be seen gesturing for the man to go out the door as he tries to justify his actions.
“They’re going to come for Social Security,” he said before staff members approached and asked him to leave.
McConnell patiently sat and did not engage the protesters. Afterward, he thanked the diners who came to his defense.
This is not the first time that protesters have confronted McConnell. In July, a group of people followed him to his car, chanting "Abolish ICE" in response to the Trump administration's immigration policy.
