They only went back to school on August 10th, but already over 50 female students at San Benito High School in California have received dress code violations for wearing the very trendy off-the-shoulder shirt. According to the school’s official dress code, tube tops and strapless shirts are banned, but the policy on off-the-shoulder shirts, which according to current students was a non-issue last year, has suddenly become a violation. Since the off-the-shoulder shirt violation insinuates in some way that male students are incapable of controlling themselves around females with bare shoulders, it’s almost as insulting to them as it is to the female students affected. That’s why, in support of their female peers and to protest the sexist dress code, a bunch of male students showed up to school wearing, you guessed it, off-the-shoulder tops!
