The day before Wango Tango, A Great Big World‘s Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about the music festival, their monster hit “Say Something,” and they even treated us to the perfect Friday song: R. Kelly‘s “Ignition (Remix).”

When the duo arrived, Ryan greeted them with a hug … which he thought they needed after the utter sadness of their hit single.

“That is the most vulnerable song we’ve ever written,” explains Ian. “And we felt so alone when we wrote it and it’s so crazy that that is the song that is doing this. We never thought that would be the single.”

So how do you follow up such a sad song about giving up on a relationship? “There is actually another sort of ‘Say Something’ on the album called ‘I Don’t Want to Love Anybody Else.’ That’s like my ‘Say Something,’” explains Chad. “There’s no happy ending.”

As for Wango Tango this Saturday, Chad reveals, “Apparently the stage is super cool. Its like a rotating stage … that’s awesome!” And of course, pregnant Christina Aguilera will be there with the duo to add her vocals to “Say Something,” which Chad says will only be the fourth time he’s performed it with her.

Also up next for A Great Big World is their new single, “Already Home,” which gives Chad the chance to finally show off his vocal talents.

“It’s really funny,” he says, “because we started A Great Big World because both of us sang on 95 percent of the songs, except for “Say Something” and then “Say Something” was the song that took off.”

In addition to the music, Chad also had a little celeb gossip for us! On New Year’s Eve, he ran into none other than Maroon 5‘s Adam Levine.

“It was the first time that we were really meeting Adam after The Voice performance, which you really didn’t meet him, you just kind of saw him from afar and waved. So Vegas for New Years was the first time we met him and he invited us to his after-party and … Ian do you want to take this?”

“David Copperfield was there, so we were all freaking out,” explains Ian. “First of all he was with a woman and Chad walks up to and is like ‘Is this the woman you cut in half?’ and he was like, ‘No, she is the mother of my children.’ And then he sees Adam for the first time and jumps up to him, not like, ‘Thank you for having us’ … he’s like, ‘Dude, David Copperfield!’”
