As we all know, Taylor Swift is a hero to legions of teenage girls, humbly showing her love or professing her love for all those people who buy her albums and concert tickets.

But that doesn’t mean she’ll read your fan letter.

The discovery was made by Kylee Francescan when she was tossing out some garbage in a Nashville dumpster. “There were, like, hundreds of letters in there to Taylor and I’m like, “Oh my gosh!” I didn’t know if they were stolen or discarded, so I threw them in a box. And I’m like, “Somebody needs to let Taylor know,” Francescan told ABC Nashville’s WKRN. Not to point this out, but who really steals fan letters?

Anyway… Swift’s spokeswoman, Paula Erickson, had an reason for the dumpster letters. “Taylor gets thousands of fan letters every day, and they are delivered to her management office,” she said. “After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled. The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed to the recycling center.”

Uh-huh. “Accidentally.”
